You’ll traverse through serene rainforests, fertile agricultural fields, and expansive, arid savannahs dotted with acacia trees, the traditional home of the Maasai people. The trails encircling the majestic, snow-capped peak of Kilimanjaro include a mix of dusty paths, rugged rocky sections, and occasional paved roads. During the journey, you’ll have the opportunity to spend a night in a Maasai cultural village, immersing yourself in their rich customs, traditional songs, and distinctive cuisine.

Itinerary
We have carefully planned out each day to give you the best possible experience. From exploring historic landmarks to tasting delicious local cuisine, each day is packed with adventure and excitement. Join us as we take you on a journey through some of the most fascinating destinations in the world.
You will be picked up at the Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) and transferred to Park View Hotel in Moshi town situated on the foot of Mt. Kilimanjaro. Today you will meet your guide who will brief you about your upcoming tour and together you will do the bike fitting. For those arriving on the morning or afternoon flight, you will have ample time to go for a quick warming up ride through the nearby coffee plantation and surrounding villages.
Today’s ride will take you from the lush, green southern side of Mt. Kilimanjaro to the drier western side. You’ll start by cycling through coffee and banana plantations in the fertile southern region. As you head west, the landscape shifts to open plains and acacia woodlands, home to a variety of wildlife and offering stunning views of Kilimanjaro.
In this area, known as Maasai Lands, you’ll encounter the nomadic Maasai people, who live alongside the wildlife. The ride will include both dirt and tarmac roads, and you’ll end your journey at Tinga Tinga Village for the night.

Today’s ride takes you through the Enduimet Wildlife Management Area, one of Tanzania’s hidden gems. Located next to Amboseli National Park, Enduimet is a crucial migratory route for wildlife, including African elephants. While primarily inhabited by the Maasai, the area also has significant populations of the Chagga, Meru, and Pare tribes.
You’ll start cycling across wide open plains dotted with acacia trees and gradually enter greener areas as you approach the lower slopes of Kilimanjaro, where farming is prevalent. The day’s ride concludes at Simba Farm, perched atop extensive wheat and barley fields with sweeping views of the western Kilimanjaro plains.

Today, you’ll cycle towards the northeast side of Mt. Kilimanjaro, heading to Nalemoru village near the Kenyan border. Nalemoru is where the Rongai Route begins. Your ride will take you through picturesque farmlands with stunning views of the western Kilimanjaro plains.
As you ascend towards the Rongai forest, you’ll pass through lively towns and gradually make your way up the foothills of the mountain. The ride ends at Snowcap Cottages, located on the edge of the Rongai forest. On clear days, you’ll be treated to magnificent views of Kilimanjaro’s Kibo and Mawenzi peaks.

Today, you’ll enjoy a thrilling downhill ride to the stunning Lake Chala, a crater lake straddling the border between Kenya and Tanzania. Known as one of Tanzania’s hidden gems, Lake Chala is fed by underground springs from Mt. Kilimanjaro, creating its striking turquoise and green waters. The lake is surrounded by diverse plant life, trees, and wildlife.
You’ll camp on the edge of this enchanting caldera lake, nestled against a dramatic volcanic backdrop. This serene setting offers the perfect opportunity to relax and take in the peaceful beauty of the area.

Today’s ride will be short but rewarding as you cycle up to Marangu village at the foothills of Kilimanjaro. Along the way, you’ll pass lush banana and coffee plantations and encounter the warm Chagga people, who will greet you with cheerful “Jambo!”
Before reaching your camp, you’ll take a detour to the iconic Ndoro Waterfalls. Here, you can stretch your legs and take a short walk to the base of the falls. A local Chagga guide will share insights about the area’s history, the ancient Chagga cave, local traditions, and the mystical legend of the waterfalls. After refreshing yourself by the falls, you’ll complete the final downhill stretch to your camp or hotel for the night.

On your final day of cycling, you’ll explore the villages and plantations on the slopes of Mt. Kilimanjaro. The first half of your ride features several steep ascents and descents, followed by a more gradual downhill stretch towards the lively Moshi Town. As you cycle through the suburbs and outskirts of Moshi, you’ll head towards the Park View Hotel, marking the end of your incredible 6-day journey around Kilimanjaro on two wheels.
To celebrate your achievement, you’ll enjoy a sparkling champagne toast in the evening.
