From exploring historic landmarks to tasting delicious local cuisine, each day is packed with adventure and excitement. Join us as we take you on a journey through some of the most fascinating destinations in the world.
Today’s ride will take you from the lush, green southern slopes of Mt. Kilimanjaro to the more arid western side of the mountain. You’ll start your journey cycling through fertile coffee and banana plantations in the southern region. As you head west, the terrain will transition to open plains and acacia woodlands, which are drier and offer striking views of Kilimanjaro.
In this region, known as Maasai Lands, you’ll experience the unique coexistence of the nomadic Maasai people and the surrounding wildlife. The ride will cover a mix of dirt and tarmac roads, leading you to the Olpopongi Maasai Village, where you’ll spend the night.
- Meals: Lunch and Dinner included
- Accommodation: Olpopongi Maasai Village
Today’s ride will be a long and rewarding journey as we cycle from the west Kilimanjaro plains to Arusha city. We’ll start by traversing the Ngasurai open plains, a vital migratory route for elephants traveling between Kenya’s Amboseli National Park and this region. Expect a hot and dusty ride as we navigate these expansive, rugged terrains.
Once we reach the end of the dirt roads, we’ll merge onto the tarmac road leading towards Arusha city. Along the way, we’ll pass small villages and settlements with the majestic Mt. Meru providing a stunning backdrop. Before arriving in the bustling city, we’ll take a scenic detour through a coffee estate, offering a picturesque end to our ride.
We’ll conclude today’s journey at the Carnivore Hotel, our boutique lodge located just outside the city, where you can relax and unwind after a full day of cycling.
- Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner included
- Accommodation: Tembo Club / Carnivore Hotel
Today’s ride is the longest in terms of distance but is relatively easier, primarily consisting of tarmac roads. We’ll journey through numerous villages, towns, and expansive plains, experiencing the Tanzanian countryside in all its diversity. As Ernest Hemingway famously said, “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them.” This ride embodies that sentiment as we traverse rolling terrain.
After covering the tarmac roads, we’ll transition onto a dirt road leading to our camp, located right on the border of Tarangire National Park. This park is renowned for its large elephant populations and stunning landscapes.
We’ll conclude the day at Roika Tented Lodge, where you can unwind and cool off in the swimming pool after a hot, rewarding day of cycling.
- Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner included
- Accommodation: Roika Tented Camp
Today’s ride promises to be an exhilarating adventure as we cycle through the migratory corridors between Lake Manyara and Tarangire National Parks. We’ll start by heading back to the main road, following it for a few kilometers before veering onto a dirt road that leads us towards Lake Manyara. This area is renowned for its rich wildlife and numerous Maasai settlements, offering a vibrant glimpse into local life.
One of the day’s highlights will be the stunning views of the Great Rift Valley, which will unfold before us as we approach Lake Manyara. After completing the dirt road section, we’ll rejoin the main tarmac road and head towards Mto wa Mbu town. From there, we’ll take another dirt road leading us to Migombani Tented Camp, where we’ll spend the night.
- Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner included
- Accommodation: Migombani Camp
Today’s ride is the final leg of our adventure and promises to be both the toughest and most rewarding. We begin by cycling from the dirt roads back onto tarmac, passing through the vibrant town of Mto wa Mbu and the entrance gate of Lake Manyara National Park. The journey then takes us up the challenging Great Rift Valley escarpment, where you’ll be treated to breathtaking views of Lake Manyara and its surroundings. This is the perfect spot for a memorable selfie to capture the moment.
As we ascend, we’ll make a stop at a viewpoint to catch our breath and take in the stunning landscape. Continuing on the tarmac road, we’ll pass through the colorful town of Karatu before heading towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The ride concludes at the Loduare Gate, marking the end of our exhilarating 6-day cycling tour of Tanzania’s northern circuit.
After a well-deserved celebratory toast to your achievement, you’ll be transferred to the Ngorongoro Farm House (or an alternative accommodation) where you’ll spend the night.
